In a world where nostalgia is often sold to us in high-definition remasters and ‘limited edition’ loot boxes, one man’s trash is another man’s… well, still trash, but expensive trash. Enter the PlayStation Experience trailer from 2006, now up for grabs for the modest sum of £56,000¹. That’s right, for the price of a small house in some parts of the UK, you can own a piece of gaming history that’s seen more wear and tear than your grandad’s old armchair.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Jane, why on earth would I want to buy a dilapidated trailer that smells like teen spirit and broken dreams?” And to that, I say: because it’s not just any trailer. It’s a trailer that once housed the dreams of every noughties kid who thought the PSP was the pinnacle of technology. It’s a shrine to a simpler time when ‘social media influencer’ wasn’t a career option, and the most significant decision you had to make was whether to play ATV Offroad Fury 4 or SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2.

But let’s talk about the elephant in the room – the price tag. Seventy thousand dollars, or £56,000 for those of us who operate in proper currency, might seem steep for a trailer with rotted tires and a hydraulic system that’s probably one button press away from giving up on life. But think of the potential! With a bit of elbow grease and a few (thousand) pounds, you could restore it to its former glory. Or, you know, use it as the world’s most overpriced garden shed.

The seller, a Mr. Arthur Vandelay (and if that name doesn’t scream ‘trustworthy’, I don’t know what does), assures us that everything is in ‘good working order’. I suppose ‘good’ is subjective. After all, one person’s ‘good’ is another person’s ‘it’s been in storage for years, and I’m pretty sure a family of raccoons has made it their home’.

So, who’s ready to pool their money and buy the big PlayStation truck? Anyone? No? Well, I guess it’s back to playing Loco Roco on my first-gen PSP and reminiscing about the good old days when gaming trailers roamed the earth, and we all lived in Sony’s world.
